Assistant Professor of Psychology (2019-Present)

Dr. Blankenship is currently an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Psychology at James Madison University. He joined the faculty in the Fall of 2019, where he teaches research methods and cultural psychology. His lab is the Structural Oppression as Feelings, Attitudes, and Behaviors (S.O.F.A.B.) Lab.

Ph.D. in Psychology (2019)

Dr. Blankenship received his Ph.D. in Psychology from The University of Michigan, after successfully defending his dissertation titled “Internalized Stigma for Concealable Marginalized Identities: A Barrier to Group-Related Political Engagement?” (Blankenship, 2019). He also completed the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT)’s Teaching Certificate Program, with an emphasis on using Technology in the Classroom. 


Arizona State University 

B.S. in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude)

Dr. Blankenship received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Arizona State University in 2013. He also received an honors distinction from Barrett, The Honors College at ASU after defending his honors thesis
